To whom it may concern,
What if sadness is a quantity in the world, and can not be created or destroyed? What if it can only move. So when I die, all the sadness I have ever felt will move to someone else, someone close. It would be hard to die knowing that. It would be hard to live. It would not be worth it to have someone close. But in my life I could share it with someone close. Maybe that’s backwards, maybe someone is close because I share it, and because they share it with me too, because they are worth sharing it with, worth feeling the sadness. That is why it is worth it to be close to someone. Knowing that would let me live so that at the moment of my death I feel joy, not sadness, and you would feel that instead. I don’t think any of that is true. But maybe it is good? Good is better than true, and you are better than good.
